AROS MB™ HDPE – IM from Graphmatech is the latest addition to the family of graphene-enhanced polymers from Graphmatech. AROS MB HDPE is a masterbatch (i.e. ready-to-use granular mix) enhanced by our own unique Aros Graphene® Technology formula, tailored for injection moulding (IM). Now available.

The new masterbatch is part of the AROS MB product range that embodies Graphmatech’s expertise in Polymer Graphene Composites. The masterbatch can be used for testing and application evaluation in parts requiring enhanced gas barrier or electrical properties while keeping mechanical and other properties intact.

AROS MB HDPE is highly compatible with most standard high-density polyethylene (HDPE) grades available off-the-shelf and can serve as a perfect substitute for common carbon black masterbatches as it will retain the colour black while increasing the final properties of the part at a much lower concentration.

AROS MB HDPE for injection moulding is already available to order through the Graphmatech online store, supplied in bags of 1 kg and 5 kg. Contact Graphmatech to order larger quantities.

AROS MB HDPE suitable for extrusion is currently under development, set to hit the market in the first half of 2022.

Safer, less leaky gas tubes to Canada

Uppsala, Sweden — According to their new MoU, Polytubes and Graphmatech are co-developing tubes for hydrogen and gas distribution.  The pipes are expected to leak significantly less hydrogen gas than current technology. Reducing leakage is not only a financial priority, but also an environmental priority. Hydrogen has a an eleven-times higher global warming potential (GWP)

Steelhead Composites and Graphmatech are developing improved hydrogen storage tanks with graphene

Uppsala, Sweden — The companies will develop and produce a new high performance type IV pressure vessel liner. Expected improvements include reduced hydrogen leakage and increased resistance to extreme thermal- and pressure conditions. The partnership combines Steelhead Composites’ leading pressure vessel technology, services, and market position with Graphmatech’s graphene-polymer composites for the hydrogen economy. Reducing hydrogen gas leakage from pipes and storage vessels by more than 40% using graphene

Uppsala, Sweden — Hydrogen is a key part of the transition to a sustainable future, but it poses engineering challenges; the gas molecules are very small, easily escaping through different types of materials. In addition, Hydrogen gas is stored at extreme pressure- and temperature conditions. The materials currently used in Type IV pressure vessels and pipes

A breakthrough in battery recycling helps enable the green transition

Graphmatech, Graphenea, and Northvolt have succeeded in up-cycling end-of-life EV batteries into graphene oxide at industrial pilot scale. This breakthrough uses the material left after Northvolt has extracted valuable metals and minerals. Until now, that remaining material has been waste.   Emma Nehrenheim, Chief Environmental Officer of Northvolt, comments: “The upcycling of graphene oxide from recycled
